Nurturing the art community
For the Royal Academy of Arts community is at the heart of its ethos, and critical to its success. It’s an independent charity and relies on its 100,000 Friends for funds. Our creative direction of the quarterly RA magazine and sister publication ‘Architecture&’ is central in nurturing this community and ensuring their loyalty.

With the highest quality of editorial content, the magazine is a key part of the RA. We created a visual identity to make the brand come alive on the page, just as it does when you visit on Piccadilly. The new identity works hard to make in-depth articles interesting and accessible, with a richer scope of typography.

We work closely with the RA on each issue as creative directors. The integration of text and image – whether photography, illustration or artwork – is always an opportunity for creativity, and key in providing a great reading experience for a wide range of art-lovers.

‘It’s a real pleasure to work with S-T. They deliver everything one would want from a creative agency – vision, imagination and intelligence, alongside rigour and attention to detail. And in terms of our working relationship, they have been excellent communicators, as well as reliable and committed colleagues, finding solutions to difficult problems under tight time pressures without drama.’
